mother-daughter weekend in the big apple!!

happy thursday everyone!! it’s been a while but i’m back sharing photos and a bit about what i did a few weekends ago with my friend tara, her mom, vivian and my mom, val! viv and val, the infamous duo, have been bff’s since they were 18 and tara and i have grown up hearing countless stories about their escapades over the years (although some stories we just cannot get out of them–not even after several glasses of wine as we’ve tried before haha). tara and viv had never been to nyc before so not only did we get to do all of the classic touristy things, but my mom and i also got to show them our fav things to do after visiting countless times.

let me just note now that our moms are seriously THE BEST for making this trip work, as well as just being the fun and “hip” (lol) mothers they are-getting lemon drops and going to dream baby and staying out till 2am-well one of the nights at least;) we wouldn’t be the daughters we are without you two! ❤

partaking in some of my favorite things in my favorite city with my favorite people definitely tops my list of manhattan memories.

anyways, our weekend began friday morning, ended sunday afternoon and the many photos in-between are below…

my favorite pink places in nyc!

happy valentines day everyone!! the past few years i’ve been in nyc for valentines day (we’ve usually had the day off because it lined up with president’s break) and my absolute favorite thing to see each year is the empire state building at night because it’s lit up red and flashes like a heart beat! also it always reminds me of sleepless in seattle which is top on my list of all time fave movies. i’m not in manhattan today but was reminiscing about years past scrolling through photos on my phone today so i thought i’d make a little post about all of my favorite “pink” places to go in nyc! okay some of them aren’t so much pink themed as they just have cute pink-colored things to see… they aren’t vday specific either, even though you could definitely go to some of them today and it would be extra adorable i’m sure! but, i would visit a pink themed place literally any day of the year so this is in no way specific to today! also half of them are spring-related because ugh i am ready for winter to be over because i want FLOWERS!!!!! alright anyways the word pink is starting to sound weird because i’ve written it so many times so starting the list….

the rockefeller christmas tree lighting!

happy thursday everyone! (or as i prefer to call it, friday eve!) if you follow along on my instagram or snapchat (you can still watch it for a few more hours, i’m megangerali6 over there), then you saw sneak peeks from wednesday, but today i’m posting a bunch more photos from when friends and i went to the rockefeller christmas tree lighting last night!

first off, can i just say that there is, without a doubt, no better place to be during christmas than new york city. EVERYTHING is decked out in lights and festive colors and there are christmas trees on every other block. i fall for this city more and more as each holiday season arrives. it really doesn’t get much better than this.

the holidays

happy holidays everyone!! i’m listening to christmas music as i write this and am in full on holiday mode! i fly home for thanksgiving break on saturday and couldn’t be more excited- family, i miss you!! however, i’m equally excited about this time ahead of us because christmas in new york is hands down THE MOST AMAZING THING ON PLANET EARTH (cue home alone 2, serendipity, miracle on 34th street, you’ve got mail, and duh ELF to prove it). honestly, every day in this city is the greatest, but this time is something else altogether. the streets are lit up and everyone is happy and there are christmas trees and ice skaters and christmas music playing at all times. new york city really pulls out all the stops and i couldn’t love it more.

that being said, i know we still aren’t even through with thanksgiving, so i’m going to tone it down a bit (for now). i have actually always wanted to go to the macy’s day parade too (except i’m a-okay with watching from some hotel room or apartment on the street above because that thing is LONG and sometimes cold and crowded and i just feel like it’d be way better to watch while sipping mimosas with brunch and the fam in a heated room with a view-but thats just me).

anyways, in the event that you’re just as ready for christmas as i am, below are some sneak peek photos of how the big apple is prepping for the holidays. maybe after seeing them you’ll understand why i practically just skip right past thanksgiving every year (in all honesty i feel sorry for that holiday, it’s like the neglected middle child of halloween and christmas).

*side note-some of my girlfriends and i are going to the rockefeller tree lighting on november 30th, when we’re back from break, and i’m practically hyperventilating just thinking about it right now! and yes that event is also long and crowded and even colder than the macy’s day parade and yet i would wait for DAYS to see it if i had to, haha. seriously though-it’s like a christmas concert and also MARIAH CAREY SINGS ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU so how can you not go??? (wow megan, toning down the christmas chat lasted for soooooo long!))

but okay i’m done, pictures!!

bringing home 3 million of these because they are the best chocolates around-max brenner  knows what they’re doing

ill blog about the tree lighting and things to do in nyc during december in the coming weeks-so stay tuned-but for now, “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”-yayyy for colorado who finally got snow today!!

xo have a great weekend!!!

things to do this fall!

first of all, the above photo is from last december when my sister came to visit in nyc and we had the greatest weekend ever! but it was so funny because we were in total christmas mode and the leaves were JUST changing!! (actually let’s be real, i’m already in christmas mode now haha, but the warm weather staying throughout em’s visit was a total bonus!)

anyways, it’s officially the first week of fall and i could not be more excited for this season to come! the weather this week has felt extra fall-like, which has been a nice change from the hot and humid weather we’ve endured for the past few months! this season on the east coast is especially gorgeous, with the leaves changing and pumpkin patches and the fact that everyone here gets 10 times more enthusiastic about halloween than anywhere else. also, i could seriously spend every day of fall at the halloween store or the halloween themed section of target… seriously aren’t those the best?!

below i’ve included a bunch of ideas for things to do that are especially fall-related. some of them you can do anywhere, while others are specific to the new york/new jersey area. however, i’ve included links to other options for my colorado people at the end, too! because shout out to colorado for having such a beautiful fall as well.

in case you missed the millions of snapchats and instagrams of mine, you should know that this past weekend my dad and i spent a few days back in new york city! i wasn’t able to move in to school until sunday so we had the perfect idea of preparing with a few days back in the big apple. we fit in as much as possible in the quick little trip, which was filled with walking, delicious food, amazing views, and lots and lots of blisters!

our friday started at 3am when we woke up to catch our flight and didn’t end until 1am at serendipity! and in between was a whole lot of fun. a bunch of photos below!

places to eat in nyc!

alright so as promised, this next post is all about places to eat in manhattan! (first post on things to do in nyc HERE). i’m thoroughly convinced that you could live in new york city all your life, eat at a different restaurant every day, and still not try all of the places available! so i’m just going to start this off by saying that there are seriously sooooo many amazing places to eat and i’ve just barely begun trying them all. plus, once i find a place i really like, i tend to go there often which also doesn’t help me in trying to constantly eat at new places. but i make an effort to not go to the same restaurants too often. that being said, there are some places that i would eat at again and again everyday for the rest of my life and never get bored.

one of my favorite things about new york in general is the fact that there are so many different options, for every meal of the day. while it makes narrowing down somewhere to eat extremely difficult at times, it also allows for so many possibilities. i think food is such an important part of life and trying new things always helps to understand and appreciate how different every culture and cuisine is.

that being said, below, i’ve included a long list of my absolute favorite places to eat in manhattan, including brunch, lunch, dinner and dessert options. if you ever end up checking any of these places out, let me know because i hope you’ll agree with me in how wonderful they all are!:)

1. Café Henrie

i first visited cafe henri just a couple weeks ago after hearing about it from multiple sources. it’s an adorable little coffee shop/diner where you can sit and chat with friends or read or work on the computer. the place is also decked out in cute pink accessories, making it a girls dream. menu

things to do in manhattan!!

hello and i hope everyone is enjoying what has been a wonderful summer thus far! ever since i started school near manhattan and have been visiting there often, i’ve gotten multiple requests regarding things to do while in the city! and i always feel like i’m frantically replying to texts with page long lists hoping that i’m not forgetting something important… because after all there are sooooo many fun things to do in new york city!

since there are so many things to do/see and also eat while in nyc, i decided to split the list up into two separate posts. this one will be all about places to see and things to do and the next one will be all about the food! i’ve spent my fair share of time in manhattan and throughout the trips have thus compiled this master list of all my favorite must-sees while in the big apple.

(one thing i would recommend though while planning a trip here is to check THIS website for the specific days you’ll be in town in case there are any special parades/fairs/concerts/anything else worthy of checking out during your trip.)

anyways, without further a-do and in no particular order…
